Marionette & Drama Programs are established to give students something
to do and to entertain preschool age children. The program has grown since
then and now is a creative outlet for teens who are interested in the arts.
 
1974 The Summer Program is created and consists of Playground Camp. The
Camp is offered at 22 different sites throughout the City of Richardson.
1989 The Summer Program is expanded to include specialized indoor programs.
One Playground Camp program remains active.
 
1989 Southwest Park & Recreation Training Institute awards the City of
Richardson the TOMA Award for its Summer Recreation Program.
 
1991 The Summer Program is expanded with the addition of Teen Camp.
 
1998 The Marionette & Drama Program receives the Excellence in Programming
Award from the Texas Recreation & Parks Society.
 
1999 The City of Richardson is awarded the Southwest Regional NRPA Award
for its Marionette & Drama Program.
